Stuck for an idea? Try the room next door

Teachers can get even better by watching others and by being watched. When we watch others we learn new ways of doing things that improve our teaching and the achievement of our students. When we are watched we receive meaningful feedback that also improves the quality of our teaching and the achievement of our students.

Thus it follows that teachers can get even better by walking about and seeing what it is that other teachers do. The more teachers walk about, the more that teachers learn. We can learn so much from observing others. You may be stuck for an idea but often the answers are going on right now in the room next door.

The holy grail is reached when we share with as many people as possible what it is we have learnt from observing others. We must spread the learning.

It only takes a minute to visit another classroom but its effects could be transformational
